I have no communication regarding anything that is happening with my child, in any capacity, from school. There are no mental health options. She will not have a place to live next semester. She has a disability that has not been accommodated. I call and no one answers and leave messages and no one ever calls me back . She can’t get in to see her counselor for help choosing classes. There has been 0 help altogether. I wish I never sent her here. Drunk cops patrolling and flirting with students to arrest drunk students who are buying alcohol a block away that does not id. They aren’t trying to fix the problem. They are just trying to make money. There is no family engagement. There was no help with financial aid. This was worse than a community college. The cherry on top is that she won’t have housing her second year- and they don’t care! My daughter lives 2 hours away, should she invest in a tent? Sleep in a classroom?

Coakroaches in the basement of the dorm. Rats on the top floor of the dorm. No heat in the dorm in October, and Novemeber. Advisor would not help with changing major and show no interest in helping. RA's on my sons floor did not notice that my son only went to class and then sat in his room, even after we had to call the dorm to check on him.
Would of left all this go, but he only attend fall of 2023, he got billed again for fall 2024. Sent children to other state schools, West Chester is most expensive and the worst run university that we as a family have delt with

Cons: West Chester Borough Student Permit Law created in 2013 causes off campus student housing to be 1/3 more each month than typical rentals; & my son said many students depart for the weekend

Pros: walkable beautiful state campus; involved professors; endless clubs to join; plenty of intramural & club sports if Frats & Sororities are not something you want to engage; music is a highly regarded at this state school; AMAZING campus dining food for a reasonable price. Middle sized University.

small and nice area. there are many restaurants. You can find different types of food. The campus is green and clean. Nice place to walk or jugging. there are public restroom. there are public parking lot.

They have a couple of neo-medieval looking buildings that wouldn't look out of place on the campuses of an ivy league university like Princeton or a great old 500+ year old European university such as Tuebingen or Heidelberg. Unfortunately the other 80 to 90% of the campus could be any old American community college. The lack of imagination of modern architecture - no wonder we have a mental health crisis - staring at glass, concrete, and steel boxes all day. Even the genocidal Joseph Stalin did a better job of designing buildings!

West Chester University is a great school in a great area. Generally speaking, the professors are professional and enjoy teaching. The students group on campus are varied and plentiful. West Chester is a wonderful town and the surround area is historic.

I want to rest Chester for one full year and my God it was the biggest waste a year of my life.
The campus is boring with no activities and outside of partying, which wasn’t even that fun there was nothing. Education was OK with some good teachers and some terrible ones. And the dining hall couldn’t have been worse. I mean it was a scam. Find a new school like Kutztown or something like that. That’s not that far.

the education is really good and I really enjoy most of the teachers. BUT the bus service will make u late even when u get on 10 min early, the food has mold, the dorms have mold, I got mold sickness during my first semester. the student health services has no better suggestions than to take pain killers for everything. the financial aid office has no idea how to handle loans. the housing office doesn't know how to give housing to those that need it. over all any of their services meant to help student lack overall organization and managment skills. the website is half worked out and lacks a lot of basic tools. the advisors don't advise much, they just direct you to someone else that doesn't know what they're doing. and they are very stingy with transfer credits. they tell you to do all of your job search on handshake which is full of scams and pyramid schemes. I should have just stayed in New York.
