Calcutta University, officially known as the University of Calcutta, is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in India. It was established in 1857 and is located in Kolkata, West Bengal. The university has a rich history and has been a pioneer in higher education in India. For students this university offerings course budget friendly. Internships are not available, But otherwise, the placements are good, and anybody can take admission here.

The University of Calcutta, College Street campus is too large and great. I visited it at night time so I couldn't able to take many pictures of it. As and when you step onto the campus you get the feel of the rich history of this historical university from where many intellectuals and our freedom fighters have studied in the past. It would be best if you visited this university at least once in your life.

The Phase V counselling for PG English on 30.11.2024 was nothing short of a nightmare. This university’s incompetence is mind-blowing. They didn’t even bother to verify seat vacancies with colleges before conducting counselling, giving students false hope and wasting their time. To make matters worse, teachers told us to travel long distances with documents, only to face the same pathetic excuse: ‘No updates, no seats.’

This entire process was a cruel joke, riddled with mismanagement and a blatant disregard for students’ well-being. They had weeks to prepare but couldn’t even get basic information sorted. The emotional toll this disorganized mess has taken on us is unforgivable.

If you value your mental health and respect your own time, stay far away from this university. They’re not just careless—they’re outright negligent.
