Currently working on the cfp designation and they completely changed the format on section 6 out of 7 and will not give you any feedback. It’s my understanding that they changed the whole bright space set up for everything. I have been working for this for over a year now and then right as I am about to cross the finish line, they change everything? RIDICULOUS! Do not use them for any reason. Absolutely awful company and education

The service is horrible. No one I talked to will take the time to help me. They have told me to email, which I have done and not got a response and then hung up on me. I just was talking with one of their representatives and he told me what I needed to do online, what he was saying wasn't there, rather than helping me, without saying anything, he threw me into a que and it made me leave a message. I have done this before and received no call back. I am beyond frustrated. I am only trying to comply with what they have stated they need me to do. Frustrated to say the least.

I obtained my ChFC from them in 2018. Trying to get ahold of someone for basic information is nearly impossible. You will get generic answers and spend hours trying to reach departments via email that don’t have phone numbers . They do gladly respond when you need to make payments for annual certification dues. If you can go somewhere else, do it. Please Send me my diploma/ certification paper via email or mail and I will update this review.

My main complaint is if you fail their Pearson Vue exam, they do not tell you what you missed. Therefore you are continuing to pay retake fees without knowing how correct. Therefore, inferring that you'll when they are ready for you to pass.

The people reviewing the school are overly critical of a small annual fee. $125 isn't the end of the world. They have ethics that need to maintain and they need to ensure students using their designations aren't unethical considering they carry the name of the school.

The courses have been good for me. I use them to stay fresh and continue pursuing learning.

I wouldn't consider the annual fee the largest drawback. My only personal gripe is the freedom to participate as it's convenient.

I would prefer the school focus on focused rigorous course work. Less on schedule accessibility.

Overall the school is good, and if $125 a year is out of your budget for an ethics maintenance fee, don't pay for tuition.

I enrolled in courses for the ChFC designation course on 11/19/2022. I paid in full up front for all 8 courses. On 1/11/2024 I completed all courses and submitted my application for my designation, which was awarded on 2/1/2024 (I met the experience hours requirement).

The courses were awesome. I loved that I could do everything online (even our textbook was virtual) and on my own pace. An instructor led live classes, but if I couldn't join, the class was recorded and all instructors were available to reach via email. The American College gives a variety of resources and coursework that really help you understand the material. Textbook, videos, discussion forums, live classes, summary pdfs, and quizzes all helped me prepare for the in person exams.

I had zero hiccups with the process and navigating the website was really easy. At one point I paused classes to take the CFP exam, and the staff was very helpful when I called in.

I highly recommend The American College of Financial Services, and will be taking CE classes with them in the future. The annual dues to use your designation is completely reasonable and standard for designations across industries.

I've done several designations through the school, I don't understand why everyone's complaining about with the annual fee. If you're struggling with that part of it all, you're not staying busy enough, business wise. Most people that have left negative reviews aren't even in the business anymore and likely thought the credentials would solve their lack of productivity/production issues.

Planning to do another course as it works with my schedule and is at your own pace. I would recommend them.

I have just completed my designation program a few months ago. Most of the courses were helpful and educational. I had hoped that the actual Financial planning course would be very in depth and hands on, unfortunately it was not. Working in a group of 6-7 people building one plan leaves each individual completing a small portion of the overall plan. I felt this really took away from each of us learning how to build a complete plan on our own. Either way over all it was a good program. The customer service has definitely fallen off over the years however and this is a bit frustrating I completed my program 3 months ago and have yet to receive MY diploma/certificate of completion even after reaching out in multiple occasions. Of course I have to call and leave a message and wait 3-4 days for a return call if I receive one at all. It’s a shame to see the college fall off so much.. sad really.
