I am incredibly proud to be a graduate of Roanoke College (Class of 2004). Looking back, I can honestly say that my time there provided me with a well-rounded, enriching college experience that has shaped my personal and professional life in so many positive ways.

The academics at Roanoke are top-notch. The professors are not only highly knowledgeable but genuinely care about the success of their students. Small class sizes foster meaningful relationships with faculty, making it easy to engage in thoughtful discussions and receive individualized attention. I felt challenged and supported throughout my academic journey, and the skills I gained have been invaluable in my career.

The campus is beautiful, and the staff are incredibly helpful and approachable. There’s a real sense of community at Roanoke College — whether it’s through academic advising, student activities, or support services, everyone is dedicated to helping students succeed and feel at home.

One of the things that made my college experience even more special was the town of Salem. It's a quaint, charming town with a very welcoming atmosphere, and it’s perfect for students. Salem has everything you need: local shops, restaurants, access to the Appalachian Trail and parks, all with a friendly, small-town vibe. It’s a place where students can relax, explore, and truly feel like part of the community. The town embraces its students, making it an ideal setting for a college experience.

All in all, Roanoke College provided me with not only an excellent education but also a wonderful community of peers, professors, and staff. I have nothing but great memories from my time there, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a well-rounded college experience in a beautiful, friendly town.

Demar Jiyuu

If you are low income, a POC, or even just an older individual trying to go back to school. I do not recommend this school. The vibes are terrible and there is no feeling of camaraderie. This school seems to be the type where you pay for your degree, you don’t actually learn for your degree.

That all being said there are a lot of talented educated professors here, and then there are few who are still stuck in bigotry and aristocratic mindsets. It truly takes away from the experience knowing that your teacher will one day be attacking your culture or beliefs simply because they have the platform to do so. This school is an educational scam. Highly suggest going to a public school rather than these private institutions, at least there would be less corruption.

Travel With Trey

Small but relatively expensive liberal arts college historically in the Lutheran tradition. The grounds and landscaping are nice in the Spring when we visited, but some of the buildings look dated and in desperate need of a makeover. A lot of money has been poured into the athletic facilities and fields, which look top notch. Salem itself has a small town feel, which is conducive to a 2000+ student body.

Zachary Hottel

I attended Roanoke for four years, graduating in 2012. I'll say it was a great place for higher education. The professors care, the staff is excellent, the facilities are wonderful, and you will be able to succeed at what you want to do.

Definitly consider Roanome College for a beautiful and wonderful college experience.

Dylan Broyles

The professors in the STEM departments are great, but sadly that is the only positive I found there. The school has black mold in most of the dorms yet the school continues to ignore the known issue while people get sick. The administrators do not care about the students at all, and regardless of how much money you spend on an education, they will delete your accounts as if you never existed if you do not graduate or transfer out. Save your money (literally, save a considerable amount of money) and go to Virginia Tech 45 minutes away if you like the area.

Roanoke College has a beautiful campus and very friendly, helpful staff. I visited with my daughter for a tour and we absolutely loved our experience!

I am a proud alum of Roanoke College. During my four years at Roanoke I grew so much as a person, not just as a student. The school genuinely cared about my personal needs/wants/desires, not just my academic pursuits. I had the opportunity to work closely with many faculty members, and they all challenged me in unique ways. While the small size of the school may scare off some students, I challenge you to give the school a tour and see firsthand what the campus culture is like. The small size actually allows your professors to get to know you, and it allowed me to get far stronger letters of recommendation for medical school. I can truly say that dear old Roanoke served [me] well
