Advisors and staff didn’t listen to my concerns and were rude to me. I don’t recommend this school unless you need a specific degree or certification you can’t get anywhere else. The campus is pretty nice but there is a pattern of disorganization and headaches. I’m sure there are some great professors and people at this school, but my experience overall was just plain awful.

This is the worst school and will NOT care about you. The faculty is literal trash and advisors will NOT warn you about which teacher is unbearable. 0 good thing to say, 0 out of 0. Don’t try

Don't waste your time here. They absolutely will not work with you at all. Advisors don't reach out, business office informs you of your debts AFTER payment plan options have passed, advertise for "online schooling" but won't work with those students who also have full-time jobs. Need lots of work.

New River Community College needs work... to say the least. The advisors are not helpful and do not work for you, they do the bare minimum and are not interested in your success. The nursing program is not terrible, however it needs extensive work. The bookstore faculty are also the least bit helpful and do not provide anything except the minimum assistance. The financial office is not interested in you or your needs and will delay responses to urgent matters for days. The professors are inconsistent and the learning opportunity is compromised in that they continually use tests and exams from years before without any modification. Overall I would not recommend this college to anyone looking at community colleges in virginia as there are many other institutions that prove more consistent, professional, and geared toward student success than New River.

Most of the professors here are very passionate about what they do. The class sizes are great, but the campus was a little too small for me. Overall, this is a great institution for a non traditional student to continue an education. There are many opportunities for financial aid, so don't be afraid to ask for information!

Classes offered on campus through WORKFORCE is awesome! And its FREE if you qualify for the Fast-forward Virginia program! But the session are too long (8-5 on Saturdays) to just sit and listen to one person teach something that could be a DL class. More hands on would definitely help not make the sessions drag on and on.

I took the motorcycle beginner course at NRCC with riding coaches Jennifer Moore and Jason Roberts and it was HORRIBLE. Jennifer especially was mean, impatient, and disrespectful. It made it very difficult to stay in a good headspace because she was so verbally abusive. I can handle feedback and criticism, but degrading and vulgar behavior like I experienced is unacceptable. Jason and Jennifer might be knowledgeable but neither one of them have the capabilities to teach a student, especially a new rider. A complete scam. I can't believe NRCC would allow these two to continue teaching. Maybe other locations have more competent riding coaches, but for us, we were scammed out of our money. NRCC must do better. Disappointing. If this school would allow students to be treated so poorly, I would stay far away.

Nursing program from 2013 to 2015 was absolutely outstanding!

HOWEVER, the bookstore and billing department are rude and do not work with their students in regard to textbook returns.

I had signd up for a class that I was unable to attend due to a family emergency. I attempted to return the textbook and the bookstore absolutely refused to take it back.

5 years later, I am being billed for said textbook that THEY REFUSED TO TAKE BACK!

I have contacted billing, and have attempted to contact the supervisor, with no response.

In addition, to do this 5 years later and during a pandemic is poor and despicable.
