Houston Community College provides a variety of academic programs and resources that contribute positively to the student experience. The overall learning environment at HCC is supportive, and many faculty members are dedicated to helping students succeed.

However, My experience at the Spring Branch campus has highlighted significant issues with the advising system. The advisors there seem to be disengaged and unresponsive to the needs of students. It often feels like they are more focused on their own tasks rather than providing the guidance and support that students seek.

Setting appointments for in-person discussions can be quite difficult, and when students do manage to reach out, it's common to be directed to email communication instead of having a meaningful face-to-face conversation. This is disappointing, especially for those of us trying to discuss important aspects of our academic and career paths with a professional advisor.

In summary, while HCC has many commendable qualities, the advising system at the Spring Branch campus needs significant improvement. A more attentive and accessible approach from advisors would greatly enhance the experience for students who are looking for guidance and support in their educational journeys.

The classes are very easy to find once you've got an understanding of the building layout, & the gentleman (older guy w/ the beard) is always friendly.

The HCC Police, on the other hand, are what you might want to watch out for. Not to be rude, but there's a darker-skinned Officer (looks Latino, again not trying to be rude) who has a knack for following students.
I made the apparent mistake of sitting in my vehicle a few minutes before class starts (I'm within HCC parking grounds & have my parking permit visible) & watched him move his patrol vehicle to angle toward me & shine his headlights directly into my vehicle. I then watched him step out shortly after I did & follow me into the library & overheard him tell the librarian that he "thought" that I was a perpetrator of some sort -- why act so shady if you're not even sure of who I am? And why are you so suspicious of someone who's literally standing at the printing machine waiting for a document to print out? What does that even mean? You assumed that I'm guilty of something just because I sat in my vehicle before class starts? How many other Students are you harassing like this, knowing they won't say anything?

Every time that I see him now, I keep my distance but he makes sure to go out of his own way to watch me, & I'm contemplating reporting him but I doubt it would get anywhere.

I've always had a very neutral perception of police, but this man genuinely makes me feel unsafe being there when I'm LEGALLY ALLOWED TO BE seeing as I'm a Student there for my class. Very trigger-happy Officer, it seems, & I can definitely see why there exists such a poor relationship between communities & LEO. The sad thing is that I jokingly mentioned this to two other classmates of mine the past semester & they actually made a comment on how they experienced similar from that exact same Officer.

One of my favorites HCC campus. This building is quite busy. If u have morning classes at 8, try to arrive there 15-
20 mins earlier or u'll be rush & park far away from the building. Classmates are cool here. Some staff might not friendly, but most that I met so far is okay.

Compared to other HCC campuses, this campus loosely managed. There was no one on the reception. There are about 4 different buildings, the main one, the bookstore, the science building and performing arts. Library is very dull. This whole place can use some light in general. Even the honors student lounge was dark and lousy. I hope someone from the honors read this and increase the lighting. Then I'll delete this review.

Went to advising today with my son to get some information about programs he is interested in (since apparently no one can be reached by phone at this place). The advisor who helped us was beyond rude. Would only speak to my son and was extremely rude with any questions he asked. No thank you...we'll be looking at Lone Star.

-20 stars if possible. Garbage school with garbage advisors that either give you 5 different answers to the same question bc they dont know how to do their job right and leave out the most vital information when you see them. Wish there was a better community college in Houston

Funny how none of the phone options is to advising when y'all know that's what people need the most. HCC doesn't care at any campus, at this point give me my left over financial aid so I can take it to another school!

Really nice up to date building. The library has lots of new equipment. The classrooms are neat and well kept. Staff was friendly and helpful in direcrinf us where to go. The campus is even nice enough to allow a summer internship training program to be held there for high schoolers
