Having problems quit your job. You shouldn't work and go to school...great recommendation right? Work is no excuse for missing a class...you need a doctors note. Unless your an instructor then it's fine. Have a problem and go to a department head they can't do anything. Apparently instructors here are immune to accountability. Much like the department heads. Do better research on graduation rates before you waste your time here. I pity anyone who goes here it's worse then a high school. No one can ever help you here and their only suggestion is not to work. Oh boy thanks unaccountable department head who can do nothing...about an instructor. Or anything really. Avoid at all costs they just want that money and could care less about you or your degree.

The instructors here were a mixed bag. Some were extremely laid back and fostered a very welcoming and inclusive environment. Others were quite strict, harsh, and acted like bullies who weaponized their grade books to single students out. I'm glad that I only spent a few terms here before transferring elsewhere.

This school is pretty mediocre, I do not suggest attending if you have a disability. It is advertised as a great school if you have a disability, I have ADHD and Autism but I'm on the more high functioning end so it doesn't affect me too much. I went and got accommodations but numerous of my teachers have yelled at me or singled me out in class for having them, this is especially prominent in my Intro to Literature teacher from last semester where he would single me out almost every day as well as intentionally grade me low on all of my essays because it's based on his personal view even though he said he wouldn't grade based on that. I barely passed with what I believe was a 71%. And in this class he would constantly brag about retirement cause he is retiring this year.

Another issue I had was the testing center, also advertised as a good place to take tests if you have a disability. When I went in there I was talked to in a very rude and condescending tone, as well as they talked to me slow and as if I was in kindergarten. Safe to say I'm never going back to the testing center unless I need to make up a test.

Overall not the best school faculty for people with disabilities.

A community college needs to provide a quality education for a fair pricing. The programs should be designed to be more flexible and accessible than a traditional university. Attempting to jump through all the barriers placed in order to even get into the program I wanted to attend was a struggle enough to keep most people away. The program was not up to par with industry demands and needs. The advisors, administrators, program heads, and even teachers were not helpful nor supportive. The way into programs was ambiguous and restrictive. It honestly felt like gatekeeping. A similar program at a more reputable school was easier to get into, navigate, and graduate from. Communication was very poor. Never from another college would student's emails be auto-replied too. Arapahoe could do so well to serve more students but place poor quality individuals and barriers in the way to keep students back.

I had an amazing experience with a particular person Justin Twist a student advisor, in the advising department. I must admit, I was extremely nervous about entering school again after many year's. I'm now 66 yrs old, when most individuals are ready for retirement, I'm ready to go back to school for a new adventure. To continue my education and the development of my skill set. #Justintwist @ #arapahoecommunitycollege has left a great impressionable spirit on me, not only was he professional, patient, understanding & kind... he was inspirational.

#ArapahoeCommunityCollege

Justin had the abilities to see beyond what other advisors/career counselors that I've known working with #Linkedin ,and other educational services or #colleges ..believe me I've done a lot of research on continuing me education & career development. I haven't found the type of insight this young man has... Justin has a true passion for assisting other in finding their sweet spot... between the students abilities, interests & values. I really appreciated his guidance that assisted me greatly in my journey.
Thank you, Justin Twist

I would give 5 stars but because of the Administration’s completely inefficient and quite frankly unjust rules that hinder my learning, I CANNOT JUSTIFY giving even 1 star. Honestly not a bad school other than the fact they won’t let me take a more difficult class because my ACT “expired” on their side, it doesn’t expire from the ACT side of things. It’s completely ridiculous that two years ago I would have automatically been placed into calculus but since they won’t take an ACT score after 5 years I have to start over. I scored a 31 on my ACT( 96th percentile) and just want to take a class that challenges me.
I met with my advisor who is very nice but due to the administrative red tape can’t do anything to override it. Records is the only one that can but I was told they won’t and you can’t even meet with them you have to call them which is absurd. Also they made me pay to take a placement test when they already have something officially sent this year from the ACT that qualifies me to take calculus by multiple points. When I get bored in school I fall behind so I am actually trying to challenge myself and they made me jump through so many hoops. A significant number of things needs to change with their administration bc the professors are wonderful.

Just one easy fix would be giving your advisors the ability to override prerequisites. That would have been one viable solution. That or maybe stop making the ACT expire.

Last thing is it’s my money just let me take the class. I’m paying you to learn not to take a class I’ve already been through. What would the point be. It’s like when you haven’t rode a bike in years but you hop on one and it all comes back pretty quick.

NOTE: Second ACT I was just going for the super score so that is why the reading and science are low. Just want to give as much perspective as I can

The staff is great. But the amount of small charges they add to each semester is unreasonable. Do i really need to spend 40$ on a student health fee? I cannot even afford food or healthcare yet they make me pay this? All the fees not related to tuition ate up over 30% of my grant money

The school is good if you just want to pick up some general education classes for a transfer, however I've had issues with the advising office and their inconsistency, each time I go in there's somebody new with something new to say. When you pick classes you either get a lousy teacher with a tough grading or a good teacher with too easy of standards. Some classes aren't available each semester and the scheduling is tough. If you are coming for social reasons you've picked the wrong place as well, you got asocial students which is just fine but the other bit are a bunch of stoners or run of the mill locals who are just floating around. If you are looking to network this is not the place, I admire a few of the professors here but their system is weak overall.
