Don't count on the financial aid department to help you much. They've completely ghosted me. Despite months of repeated visits to their office and assurances that someone will contact me... Crickets. Finally, I find out (from other sources) that they simply won't certify student loans for the real housing costs in the area.

I enjoy Polk state a lot. There website is a bit out dated so the admission process was kinda annoying bc their "main" email doesn't work. U would have to email something else I forgot what it's called but once u find out that email then you're set. The people who work at the school are amazing and very welcome. The school cares very much for low cost income students and the school is cheap in general. They have a food place for anyone who needs food. And they have free bus transportation. I love the school, you'll feel like home being there. Asides from them being associated with dual enrollment annoying highschooler may be there but u won't find them in most places besides the cafeteria. The food is amazing, and decently priced.

This school makes you want to give up on Pursuing a degree. I have never had so much trouble, issues or headaches dealing with any other school like I have this one. You are treated very poorly by most, close to all of the employees. There has been multiple times they requested information for my financial aid and my transcripts and every time I go in and turn the information they still say they didn’t receive it until I have to argue with them and then it’s “oh I have it right here” I was supposed to start classes MONTHS ago and every time I think I’m there they pull something else out the hat. I went in weeks ago to turn in my additional verification for financial aid and then walk in a week before classes start just for them to tell me “ oh we don’t have it you need to fill it out again” after some pushing they take the time to search and find out they do have it and it never was submitted. Now I have the school calling me because classes are about to start asking for money because they haven’t heard from financial aid and trying to drop me from starting my class because of their mistake. I call financial aid then they tell me oh we can’t help you because it doesn’t look like you have ever been enrolled (I have my student ID and my class schedule by the way and enrolled for early child care management) and that I need to contact admissions. I call them only to be met with such disrespectful employees with no sympathy in helping with the problem. Finally was told a supervisor would call me back and never heard from her. This school is a complete let down and makes you just want to give up like your fighting a losing battle. If I ever get to start my first class I’m scared to see how the teachers are considering out of the many people I’ve talked to there maybe only 1-2 that was kind of decent or slightly helpful. If I could give them zero stars I would. T. Noble

The staff at the WH campus is entirely unhelpful. They give you wrong information every time you have an issue that needs to be addressed. Most professors I’ve had at WH PSC campus have been rude and not helpful. The professors at the JD Alexander Center are much more helpful, understanding and nice to work with. The advisors at the JD Alexander Center are amazing, Faith and Warren are so helpful and kind. PSC has double charged me for tuition every semester; I’ll pay the amount of tuition I am responsible for (as I use FL Prepaid) and then the same amount of money I’m responsible for will be taken out of my student loans even though the remainder of tuition has already been paid for. I don’t have the easiest time getting someone from Financial Aid on the phone, and I have yet to receive an answer as to why I’m being double charged for tuition, semester after semester.

They offer higher education at an affordable cost. Get your stuff done months before open registration so you're not stressing last minute! They offer and try to bring "the student life" to campus. REMINDER this is NOT A UNIVERSITY - so they can only offer you so much with sports, clubs, and programs due to funding but what they have is good. They do offer lots of programs, scholarships, and dual enrollment courses. I've had a great experience with Polk State Winter Haven for the past years. If you have no idea what to major in they will say stick with AA liberal arts (general courses) so you can transfer to a 4 year UNI. The campus is easy to navigate for first time students. This does not have 5 stars due to the cafeteria/event hours. What they offer for morning/day students is a lot more then what they offer for evening/night students. Professors overall are great. Online courses are also offered.

I only went to this campus to take the state exam for my insurance license - but its a beautiful campus for a state college. And for never having been there, the building I needed was easily found. I'd go here if I had the need to go back to college in Polk County. Plus, the weather here has way more cool-cold temperature days then Broward County and people are nicer here.

Completely unprofessional in regarding student aid. They are trying to charge for something 3 years ago and when asked to look into it and call back no answer other then to charge more. Dropping out of the ba program because I can't deal with how much they mess money up and cause stress and anxiety with the level of their unprofessionalism. They have also tried to charge me for material citing an e text for a class with open source material free to the students. So many emails and dead end calls just leads you to want to quit all together and no real answers unless you reach out to the school president.

Polk state has providers me with the best education. They have allowed me to take dual enrollment credits through their program. The staff is always respectful and polite. They really know how to treat their students and everyone that enters the campus. This is a great college that has a lot to offer , you can come in and they will advise you and help you with anything that pertains to your education. I recommend Polk state because it’s a great college that bolsters the education of others.
