This is an amazing school with even more amazing people. Going to this school will help any student. It gives students an experience like no other. Of couse the work is a lot but after going through it you become a stronger student and person. Not to mention students are able to go to college 2 years early. Honestly from a personal experience as a student going to this school was the best decision I made. I love it.

There are a handful of people who like to say problematic things. One of the staff members said an offensive word on a Teams call. During spirit week, the school sent home a student, who was a boy, for wearing a dress. Some of the teachers are creepy, one of them likes to specifically talk to the girl students. And another teacher doesn't "teach" they just give you work. Only giving a 1 star because there are few good teachers.

I am currently a senior at this school and I absolutely LOVE it. There are some cons, just as there is to practically everything in life. They're very strict with student dues and when you become an upper class men, meeting the volunteer hours requirement can make or break you. To be completely honest and real with you, I had a few breakdowns trying to balance the workload the first two years but looking back it now it was all worth it. Not only did the workload and challenges help me prepare for what it will be like in college, the teachers and administrators taught us just about everything they could to prepare us for college before we moved on to GPC (Georgia Perimeter College). Even with all of the advice, the new freedom of GPC can be a blessing and a curse if you don't know how to manage it. But overall the experience has helped me be not just prepared, but completely ready for a four year university. I will graduate with 54 credits and knowledge about not only how to succeed in college, but knowledge about myself. I know what study habits work best for me, the kind of workload that I can handle, my interests, what degree fits best for my career and so much more. Also it gave me the opportunity to make great connections for the future and even now. Oh, wait! Did I already mention that we're the number one high school in the State of Georgia? Something that may not even matter to you (or if you're a parent, your student) right now but it definitely comes with its perks. We get to rent out new Samsung tablets for the whole semester, colleges are more likely to accept you, and we usually make the highest test scores. But I must say that this school is NOT for everyone. If you know that you're not one for a challenge and aren't mature then that's okay. But don't come to Decat. You'll just get kicked out and all of it will be a complete waste of your time. Also if you like for things to move at a slower rate then I also wouldn't recommend it here, or if you want to play sports for the school. We have no sports teams, but you really want to, you can join at other schools. The other con (if you care about this sort of thing) is that the first two years while you're in the Deca building you must wear a uniform. I didn't mind because since I'm going to GPC where there are no dress codes I can wear whatever I want.

I'm a senior at Dekalb Early College Academy and I've had some of the best experiences here. DECA is a high school where your first two years is located in the high school, but your junior and senior year is at Georgia Perimeter College. It's a place where intellectuals collaborate to improve their academic and practical abilities to a higher learning. The teachers are interactive with their students and they are truly concerned about their students. In my opinion, DECA is an amazing school, but not for everybody. The work load can be overwhelming at points, but it's worth it in the end. How many people can say that they go to college as a full-time student as a teenager? Not many. DECA gives you opportunities that not many schools can give you. Going to this school has provided me things that makes me the person I am today and honestly I love it. Sure DECA isn't a walk in the park, but everybody needs a challenge. This challenge will show you how ready you truly are for college. This school amazing and I will always be a fellow Knight no matter what. Also, DeKalb Early College Academy is 1 of 24 schools in the DeKalb County School District. (source: USNews)

This school is difficult in the beginning, but it becomes easier. They offer mentoring programs for those who need it, and it can be come easy to make friends since the school is small. I'm a senior and go to GPC, and at GPC they offer DECA students they're own study secession. The first two yeas at DECA there will be a good amount of work, but its because the teachers are over preparing the students for the 2nd two years of high school at GPC.

It will change your life I promise you that and in a good way although ignore the egotistical people there. Since this school is the cream of the crop people get arrogant and a lot do. I've never been a guy to follow the crowd I actually try to get as far away from it as I can by being myself and I recommend that strategy to everyone but results may vary so that's my DECA advice good luck.

I love this school. This school has been great for my child. I am very involved with the PTSA and the staff. The work can be challenging, but it is very worth it.
