Worst place I have ever worked.
This is a diploma mill. They are trying to do away with late and attendance policies. This is from the top. I was told to give a B to a failing know, as Dean, to her. Finally she constantly talked trash on HR and her boss Peter, but then quickly blamed issues on me. She is the definition of a bad new manager. This is the first time she has been Dean and it shows; she is in over her head and blaming all around for her stuff.
HR is toxic and lawbreaking. Told incorrect benefit information and had to threaten legal action to get access to my pay stubs.
I reported racism, the school did not follow its own policy, then investigated it in one day after I complained that they didn't follow the 90 day policy, then the president never followed up with my complaint, then I was scapegoated for the above lack of action, and let go for student complaints about my late policy, which I changed BTW.
If you are a strong black woman that believes in ethical education and actually preparing students for the workplace - go elsewhere.

UPDATE: CCD has financial challenges. They wanted to reduce chairs to help with that. They made an excel formula to lower chairs and tried to fudge the numbers. When called out they adjusted, but then non-renewed my contract. Now my position no longer exists as faculty classification. Anyone paying attention knows this was financially motivated and BS otherwise. No transparency or honesty from leadership.

If you are considering attending at CCD, think again. I have had a horrible experience from start to finish as a student here. I am out of state so I had LOTS of issues pertaining to my tuition. I switched majors once and dropped the classes I did not need anymore and they charged me over $2,000 for that semester, out of pocket. This most recent semester, they tried saying I was “ineligible” for government financial aid, and even ineligible for student loans, and are now charging me over $3,000 out of pocket for the classes that I took. At no point during this semester did an advisor or financial aid reach out to me to clarify this issue. If you don’t want ridiculous cost and fees and virtually NO help in combatting this issues, please do not attend this college. I will be switching to a different college after this experience.

As much as I love getting an education and my professors, CCD has ensured that my entire experience at this school would be ROUGH. This is my 4th semester and I’ve had FIVE ADVISORS because people keep leaving and shuffling students around. Because of having so many advisors, I’ve been told contradictory things along the entire way. It’s really disheartening to not have anyone be able to tell me what’s going on and make sure I’m on the right track. I’ve had to figure it all out on my own.

1. I moved to the Colorado and didn’t have residency but they advertised that you could apply a year later to get in-state tuition. However, they DON’T approve it. I was given to many excuses and had to keep getting more paperwork for them to tell me that no matter what I did I would not get residency with them.

This college is thirsty for money as they have a lot of debt and employees will tell you different things.

2. I also tried joining their TRIO SSS and I was told I was not able to join because my parents are not from here and they don’t do taxes back home. Well, the director of the club met me when I was about to graduate and told me that that wasn’t the case but it was too late because their requirement is to serve students for at least 2 semesters.

3. I applied to their general scholarship with no luck so decided to go to their scholarship writing workshop and after telling this old lady my background, she responds with “oh you are one of those”. I never went back and gave up on getting help financially

I wanted take lower math class at CCD just get 3 or 4 college credits. OMG, math classes at CCD looks so much harder. All the math class above Algebra class. They eliminated Business English and Fundamentals of mathematics classes. I don't why, some students is not good in math. I know I not. That why I don't know why a eliminated fundamentals of mathematics class.
Also I called many times and went down there no help give you run around. They even don't help students prepare for accuplacer test too, no tuto
rs, or nothing . Students prepare sheets of papers of the accuplacer test nothing else.

The pandemic has not been kind to this school. The semester of the pandemic I transferred from CCD to another school incredibly sad I had to go. The pandemic made me change career paths and I decided to return to CCD to gain a certificate. The experience has been abysmal. I’ve only seem to have had one professor for the for most of my certificate program. She’s a great prof but it would be nice to have different teachers as well to learn different perspectives on the field. The school seems to cancel almost every class I sign up for due to low attendance. There’s plenty of online only classes but I personally gain a lot through lecture and class room instruction and the online classes are very hit and miss as far as that goes. The help at the front offices are very hit and miss as well, but you can usually count on whoever you talk to at first being condescending and very rude. The adjunct professors are very obviously underpaid and I’ve had multiple profs tell me such. I’ve also had profs beg the class at large to take other classes from them because a class getting canceled is the difference between them not being able to meet their basic needs.
All this being said Nick Morris, Kurt Pond, and Tammi Spicer-Dormuth have been some of the best teachers I’ve ever had in my whole entire life. Also Lynne Stefanowski has been incredibly helpful as a guidance counselor. They are all a credit to their field and to their respective departments. I rarely have issues with the teaching staff here. They all seem to genuinely care for their students success and well being. The student resources and those that work within these departments are wonderful as well.
To me it seems as if this school is hurting to get admission in a post lockdown world and lacking proper leadership in its management and bureaucracy. I used to highly recommend and encourage CCD for folks that weren’t sure what they wanted to do for their future or adult students that wanted a caring and helpful learning environment upon returning to school. Now I hesitate before giving that recommendation.

They charge you top dollar to get to school after you pay tons of tuition. Parking is per day. The classes are a joke, the professors dont know anything. Online courses are awful. Just had the worst experience of my life with this school and the city of denver. Go literally anywhere else, ive enjoyed even the smallest lowest end schools of other cities more than this
