Great University, many disciplines to choose from. We were guests and were assigned a parking lot. Great!
Not so fast….the lots aren’t numbered and the online map is all but worthless. We drove around for almost an hour trying to find our assigned spot and finally spotted an opening which we grabbed. It turned out to be the correct location but still the signage was almost indecipherable.

Texas State University of San Marcos has great education. But life here is questionable at best and miserable at its worst.
The buildings and architecture are historic in a negative way. Many of the lecture halls and dormitories are falling apart, and many students living on campus are forced to live in terrible conditions. With many suffering from being poisoned by the mold growths in the ventilation of their living halls. Some of the buildings also smell bad no matter where you go inside.
TSU also forces freshman students to live on campus with no way to opt out. Which means you’re going to lose several hundred to several thousand dollars depending on your budget.
The student culture here is also difficult to adjust to. Half of the campus is populated by party animals who regularly partake in alcohol and illegal substances. If you don’t conform or constantly avoid the party animals, you will be alienated. In both dorms I previously lived, the conditions were poor and I had roommates involved with illegal substances. One of which severely impacted my health by their substances traveling through the dorm’s ventilation into my room. In my second dorm, one roommate partook in illegal substances and invited friends to the dorm who provided additional illegal substances.
The only redeeming quality of TSU is the education and the professors. I had great professors and they structured their learning material well. And every professor I worked with was friendly, compassionate, and understanding. TSU also has a wide variety of programs to choose from for undergraduate and graduate students.

Do not let your children live and choice this in that University. It is not a safe place, and the authorities do nothing to safeguard the lives of their children, especially if they are Latino or with disabilities... take care your children... one bad decision could destroy the life of an entire family

My high school Avid class visited Texas State University on November 9th 2023, and it is a big campus. We got a tour of the campus and got to ride one of the shuttle buses on our way back to the buses that we brought there. Our tour guides were awesome.

My son was accepted at this university, this pleople are about money and nothing else, they don't care about the students neither their parents that try very hard to give education to our kids, TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY STOLE MY MONEY. I paid for my son Math class on 8/16/23 and 3 days after 8/19/23 my son withdraw the class by email.but since they knew that if they proces s the withdraw on 8 /21/23 they get to keep 1/3 of the money I paid that was close to $ 2200 for nothing and 1 class only, we were waiting on the refund, and they never send us anything then we started to email them and called them several times to request our full refund because my son did his withdrawal before the classes started that was on 8/21/23, i can imagine how many times this pleople keep parents money
For not reason and how much they had stolen for all the people that don't request their money, untill now I still fighting for my money with this university, SO PARENTS BECAREFULL WITH THIS TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY..
