I would not recommend VT vet hospital and I will never send another animal here.

My horse, Riley, was brought to VT on 9/18 for a hygroma removal on his leg. I was called on 9/21 to say he was colicing and had displaced his colon. I went to see him personally and found him uncomfortable with a disgusting surgical bandage and not a vet in site. Riley is now 6 weeks post-op and his leg is no better than prior to surgery. Also, upon reviewing his discharge notes, VT states he began colicing on Thursday, was offered no colic care until Saturday, and I was not informed until Saturday. Original quote was $4,500 and I paid VT just over $6,000 due to extra expenses incurred from colic and colon displacement that happened in their care and have a horse with a leg that is no better. He was also never fed correctly from day 1 and lost 50lbs in 7 days at VT. VT has refused to take any responsibility nor offered any follow up support.

Friendly staff….however that’s about it, just beware of misinformation. Took my little boy in for a 2am ER visit after a fall. Stayed overnight and was billed almost $700 to be told that he was completely paralyzed and needed an MRI and surgery North of $6000 (on top of being recommended to be put down). Distraught we took him to our local vet and was told that with rest and laser therapy (and some medication, totaling just $175) he should be fine. 2 months later he is running around like a young man again. I would only recommend if you have absolutely nowhere to go, just be careful and hold your wallet close.

Today was my first visit here and it was positive. My pet is still with the Vet and her team. Dr. F and B (the student) were more than patient and thorough with the initial consult. They were sincere, compassionate and great listeners. I am hopeful for a positive outcome for my beloved pet. I am impressed by the facility and the professionalism demonstrated by this team of young aspiring veterinarians. Prices are steep but a payment plan is available for those that qualify. So, it is my opinion that one should call in advance to explore the options that are offered.

This is THE place to come if you have an emergency. Staff was polite, prompt, and did not make us wait any longer than needed. I came here after waiting FOUR hours at Town & Country in Christiansburg without being seen at all. Within minutes of arriving here, they had my dog back in a room and were already checking him out. Thank you!

Friendly staff and nice place... But their service is unprofessional, expensive, and needlessly time consuming. $450 to tell me what we already knew, my dog has Lymes. It took four hours because they had to call me back twice, once because they forgot to weigh my dog (lol). Then they were out of antibiotics. Yes. So I had to wait a day to treat my dog anyways because the pharmacies were closed... because I was there for four hours... They did ask if I wanted to pay a pharmacist to deliver antibiotics to the hospital. Shouldn't that be something you guys do? Invoice was crazy. $25 fee for running tests on a Sunday. $13 fee for running tests on a Sunday. Then $152 fee because it's a Sunday. Another $13 fee cause it's Sunday. None of it explained.

I think it may be cheaper to buy the snapdx testing kit and do the Lymes test and dosage myself. I sure haven't spent $450 on my own health care. Can't wait for the human hospital experience.

Absolutely wonderful hospital. My dog, Mya, and I have been to several vets over the past year for an ongoing issue and finally got answers here. Our vet/student team was professional and caring. Mya is back to her old self thanks to their knowledge, and the bill wasn’t hateful either. I’m SO thankful to have this hospital in our area and would recommend them to anyone needing advanced diagnostics for your pet.

Kinda confusing getting there. But really nice people. Helpful, but unfortunately they have nothing but a money right then policy. And our needs, as I would think, be a majority of pets sent there, was thousands. Some people may have it like that, but never been us. We do however have an incredible credit rating. I know you can't just give credit to everyone and not get screwed. But,.... jus' sayin'.

Never got the final itemized bill I asked for. Took over a month and multiple calls for me to get money back that they owed me. After calling about my cats paw print for MONTHS and always hearing a new excuse why they couldn’t tell me where it is, someone finally reached out and said it was probably “lost in the mail.” Apparently no one could provide a tracking number for it either. Someone said they would look into seeing if I was charged for this service- no one did. What hurts is that I actually asked for the paw print before leaving the place- was told it needed to cool down and that it would be mailed to me. I really regret trusting that. So much.
